Language and Color

For those of you who have never met me in person, I cuss.

A lot.

Let me assure you that I am doing it on purpose.  I have a reasonably large vocabulary and can shift to fit a variety of contexts.  The simple truth is that I don’t want to change my syntax.  I learned a very long time ago that strong word choices reduce the amount of wiggle room for others when they are trying to weasel out of their responsibilities.

“Speak in extremes it will save you time.” David Bowie

I’m abrasive.  I know it.  I’m not interested in making small talk or protecting your “feelings.”   I am interested in getting to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible.  I am interested in ideas and facts.

I make an effort to not attack individuals on a personal level.  I do critique the quality of their ideas.

At a certain point, once an individual has proven their ideas have absolutely no merit, then it becomes personal.  Now they are wasting my time and my time is very limited.

If my word choices offend you, then I probably don’t want to listen to your bullshit dribble either.  If you are smart enough to read through the “color” to dissect the meaning of my arguments, the new can have an open honest debate.

Debate is healthy.
